Principal Dentist

Greetings, I’m Heena, a seasoned general dental practitioner with over a decade of professional experience. My journey in the dental profession commenced in 2007 upon graduating from Dental School, encompassing various facets of dental practice, alongside my role as a clinical demonstrator for final year DDS and OHT students in Melbourne.

After over 12 fulfilling years in Melbourne, I embarked on a new chapter in Brisbane, captivated by the tranquility and simplicity that Wynnum offered. Dentistry has always been my unwavering passion, and I continue to evolve in this field with each passing day. Building genuine connections with my patients is what drives me, guiding them through an array of treatment options and empowering them to make informed decisions for superior oral health and the radiant smiles they’ve envisioned.

While I hold a profound appreciation for all aspects of dentistry, my expertise truly shines in preventive care, restorative procedures, and the art of crafting new smiles through techniques like veneers, crowns, and bridges.

Beyond the dental chair, I find joy in spending quality time with my family, expressing my artistic side through Bollywood dancing, unwinding on the beach, and losing myself in the soothing melodies of ocean waves. If you ever hear a faint hum while I’m focused, know that it’s just me in my element.

Ashleigh Vong

Practice Manager

With extensive experience in customer service and management across various industries, including hospitality and the beauty sector in Brisbane, Ashleigh is dedicated to providing outstanding service and efficient stock management.

At Wynnum Dentists, Ashleigh plays a vital dual role as an assistant practice manager, prioritizing the delivery of exceptional care and ensuring the highest quality of dental products and equipment for our patients, both in and out of the treatment chair.

As an assistant practice manager, she creates a welcoming and comfortable environment in treatment rooms, addressing any patient uneasiness with care and attention. As a clinic coordinator, Ashleigh tirelessly seeks high-quality products at optimal value to maintain reasonable fees. She also keeps our social media current with promotions, announcements, and community engagement while managing front-desk duties to ensure patient satisfaction.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, friends, and her two German Shepherds, and exploring diverse musical cultures, including Spanish, Russian, and Portuguese.

Airdre Baker

Oral Health Therapist

Airdre graduated from CQ University with a Bachelor of Oral Health with Distinction. She has been in the dental industry for over 13 years.

She has a special interest in treating children and strives to create a positive introduction into the dental environment. By applying evidence-based dentistry, her aim is to educate and assist patients in maintaining their dental and oral health throughout their lifetime. Her belief is golden that prevention is better than cure and always delivers the preventive measures for the teeth and the gums including orthodontic discussions at an early age.

In her spare time, Airdre enjoys cooking, attending concerts, and spending time with her partner Frank and their two stuffies, Luna and Loki.

Mayra Duran

Senior Dental Assistant

Mayra Duran, is a qualified dentist with a specialization in Endodontics hailing from Colombia. Currently working with us as a Dental Assistant within our team, Mayra is diligently preparing for Australian dental exams to secure certification. In her role, she plays a pivotal part in collaborating with dentists and hygienists during treatments, ensuring a streamlined and secure environment for our patients. Mayra also makes substantial contributions to the sterilization area, ensuring strict adherence to quality and hygiene standards.

Having earned her Dentistry degree in 2015 and specializing in Endodontics in 2019, Mayra focused her career in Colombia on endodontic treatments, the management of dentoalveolar trauma, and the promotion of patients’ oral health.

In 2022, Mayra, accompanied by her husband, made the journey to Australia. During her leisure time, she finds joy in activities such as visiting the beach, engaging in exercise, reading, and studying English alongside her husband.

Avesta Safi

Oral Health Therapist

After graduating from The University of Newcastle in New South Wales, with adult scope. Avesta spent years working in Sydney, as an Oral Health Therapist, in both cooperate and independent dental practices.

Furthermore, Avesta’s experience included working in dental vans. Where she travelled, to provided oral health care for geriatric patients in residential aged care facilities, across Sydney and regional New South Wales. Her prior practice has also included volunteering in Southeast Asia, where she performed dental treatment on children, in a range of primary school settings.

Avesta’s commitment in providing dental care in regional areas and developing countries. Demonstrate her passion, in oral health and making dental treatment more accessible to people with limited opportunity for it.

Following the pandemic, Avesta moved to Brisbane where she has been enjoying the Sunshine State since.
With a friendly and compassionate demeanor, patients often describe Avesta as ‘gentle’ and ‘thorough’. She is attentive to detail, providing clear explanation of dental conditions and procedures.

Avesta’s main focus is providing preventative and therapeutic dental treatment for patients all ages. Treating any gum diseases on adults, restorative procedures, primary exodontia, and cosmetic whitening. Using up to date evidence based practice and embracing the latest technologies in dentistry.

Outside of work, Avesta enjoys travel, reading books, as well as keeping fit by working out at the gym and swimming.

Kim Okwuka

Dental Assistant

Studied dentistry in the University of Panamá and finalized in 2016.

Worked as a dentist in her country in the public and private sector until 2024, when she decided to start a new adventure and study in Australia. While she was working in the public sector, she did a postgraduate in Higher education in the university of Panamá, and she’s currently studying a master degree in QUT. In her free time, she like spending time with family and friends, eating (specially ice-cream), watching movies, meeting people and having good conversations with them, teaching and doing community work.

Dr Mya Rush

Dentist

Dr. Mya Rush completed her Master’s degree in Dentistry at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. She is a dedicated and compassionate dentist with a well-rounded appreciation for all aspects of dentistry and enjoys caring for both adults and children.

Mya believes in working collaboratively with her patients to understand their unique goals and create personalized treatment plans. She is committed to providing the highest standard of care, using evidence-based best practices to ensure every patient receives optimal, lasting results.

Outside the clinic, Mya values her friendships, prioritizes a healthy lifestyle, and finds joy in the quiet moments of life – either reading, or piecing together her latest jigsaw puzzle.

Sarah Byrne

Patient Concierge

Sarah joins the team bringing over 15 years experience in both chairside assisting and reception. Sarah is Irish Filipino and spent her early childhood years growing up in PNG. She is a huge animal lover, with fur babies of her own she has also fostered and volunteered for a number of animal shelters. In her free time she likes to take the dogs on a bushwalk or beach trip, spend time with family or watch the latest crime doco series.

Dr Priyesh Shah

Dentist

Hi, I’m Dr. Priyesh Shah, and I’ve been creating healthy, confident smiles for over two decades. After graduating from King’s College London in 1999, I moved to Australia in 2006 and soon established my own practice, where I continue to offer personalised, high-quality dental care.

My passion lies in comprehensive dentistry, with special interests in implants, All-on-4 treatments, orthodontics, and facial aesthetics. I’m committed to staying at the forefront of modern dentistry through ongoing education and advanced training, always aiming to provide the best outcomes for my patients.

Known for my warm and gentle approach, I strive to make every visit as comfortable as possible. Outside of work, I’m a Formula 1 and football fanatic, love photography, and enjoy travelling with my wife, kids, and our Cavoodle, Nico.
