Greetings, I’m Heena, a seasoned general dental practitioner with over a decade of professional experience. My journey in the dental profession commenced in 2007 upon graduating from Dental School, encompassing various facets of dental practice, alongside my role as a clinical demonstrator for final year DDS and OHT students in Melbourne.

After over 12 fulfilling years in Melbourne, I embarked on a new chapter in Brisbane, captivated by the tranquility and simplicity that Wynnum offered. Dentistry has always been my unwavering passion, and I continue to evolve in this field with each passing day. Building genuine connections with my patients is what drives me, guiding them through an array of treatment options and empowering them to make informed decisions for superior oral health and the radiant smiles they’ve envisioned.

While I hold a profound appreciation for all aspects of dentistry, my expertise truly shines in preventive care, restorative procedures, and the art of crafting new smiles through techniques like veneers, crowns, and bridges.

Beyond the dental chair, I find joy in spending quality time with my family, expressing my artistic side through Bollywood dancing, unwinding on the beach, and losing myself in the soothing melodies of ocean waves. If you ever hear a faint hum while I’m focused, know that it’s just me in my element.

Ashleigh Vong

Assitant Practice Manager

With extensive experience in customer service and management across various industries, including hospitality and the beauty sector in Brisbane, Ashleigh is dedicated to providing outstanding service and efficient stock management.

At Wynnum Dentists, Ashleigh plays a vital dual role as an assistant practice manager, prioritizing the delivery of exceptional care and ensuring the highest quality of dental products and equipment for our patients, both in and out of the treatment chair.

As an assistant practice manager, she creates a welcoming and comfortable environment in treatment rooms, addressing any patient uneasiness with care and attention. As a clinic coordinator, Ashleigh tirelessly seeks high-quality products at optimal value to maintain reasonable fees. She also keeps our social media current with promotions, announcements, and community engagement while managing front-desk duties to ensure patient satisfaction.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, friends, and her two German Shepherds, and exploring diverse musical cultures, including Spanish, Russian, and Portuguese.

Dr Maeve Flanagan

Dentist

Dr. Maeve Flanagan earned her Bachelor of Dental Sciences from The University of Manchester in 2017 and recently made the move to Brisbane. With six years of prior practice in the UK, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of general dentistry. Dr. Flanagan possesses a particular interest in minimally invasive dentistry, as well as cosmetic and restorative dentistry.

Having completed a yearlong course in Aesthetic and Restorative Cosmetic Dentistry with Dr. Chris Orr in London, Dr. Maeve has been applying her expertise in private practice in the UK. She offers a diverse range of treatments, including short-term orthodontics and cosmetic solutions such as ceramic and composite restorations, to enhance her patients’ smiles.

Dr. Flanagan is dedicated to delivering top-notch dental care while ensuring her patients feel at ease during appointments, earning her the title of ‘the gentle dentist’ from many of her satisfied patients.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Maeve is enthusiastic about exploring Australia and travelling throughout the country. She maintains an active lifestyle, frequently attends the gym, and indulges in the diverse culinary delights offered by Brisbane’s fantastic array of restaurants.

Airdre Baker

Oral Health Therapist

Airdre graduated from CQ University with a Bachelor of Oral Health with Distinction. She has been in the dental industry for over 13 years.

She has a special interest in treating children and strives to create a positive introduction into the dental environment. By applying evidence-based dentistry, her aim is to educate and assist patients in maintaining their dental and oral health throughout their lifetime. Her belief is golden that prevention is better than cure and always delivers the preventive measures for the teeth and the gums including orthodontic discussions at an early age.

In her spare time, Airdre enjoys cooking, attending concerts, and spending time with her partner Frank and their two stuffies, Luna and Loki.

Mayra Duran

Dental Assistant

Mayra Duran, is a qualified dentist with a specialization in Endodontics hailing from Colombia. Currently working with us as a Dental Assistant within our team, Mayra is diligently preparing for Australian dental exams to secure certification. In her role, she plays a pivotal part in collaborating with dentists and hygienists during treatments, ensuring a streamlined and secure environment for our patients. Mayra also makes substantial contributions to the sterilization area, ensuring strict adherence to quality and hygiene standards.

Having earned her Dentistry degree in 2015 and specializing in Endodontics in 2019, Mayra focused her career in Colombia on endodontic treatments, the management of dentoalveolar trauma, and the promotion of patients’ oral health.

In 2022, Mayra, accompanied by her husband, made the journey to Australia. During her leisure time, she finds joy in activities such as visiting the beach, engaging in exercise, reading, and studying English alongside her husband.

Dr. Jenny Tang

Dentist

Born and raised in the North East of England, Jenny continued to complete her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree at Newcastle University in 2019. After graduating, Jenny moved to the North West and gained experience as a Senior House Officer in the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery department of North Manchester General Hospital. She helped triage and admit patients who required urgent treatment or intervention and also provided care and treated those who attended the Accident and Emergency department with trauma or infections in the head and neck, such as deep cuts or infected cysts. Not only this, she worked alongside consultants for major head and neck cancer cases in theatre and post-operatively. During her time in Greater Manchester, she worked as a family liaison officer at the Nightingale Hospital in the North West, which was set up to help tackle the COVID-19 pandemic and provided emergency dental treatment for the out-of-hours service, which was invaluable for patients that were not able to register at an NHS practice due to overcapacity. After completing her postgraduate diploma, she is now a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Jenny enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially building rapport with patients as she knows going to the dentist isn’t every patients’ cup of tea, she strives to provide the most comfortable and enjoyable experience for her patients and hope that any negative connotations associated with dentists will dissipate over time. She has also advanced her expertise in aesthetic dentistry by completing courses in Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers. She loves how Botulinum Toxin can be used to accentuate and rejuvenate a patient’s natural features, help relieve tension around the jaw, and treat sweating. Completing the Invisalign course has also allowed Jenny to help patients achieve the smiles they have been dreaming of.

During her elective in Vietnam, she volunteered at the University of Ho Chi Minh City and hopes to do further voluntary work in Australia, South East Asia, and Africa. As an avid traveller and explorer, Australia has been a dream since she was a teenager. Finally making a move to Brisbane at the end of 2022, she has been keen to explore Australia and hopes to make a road trip around the coast of Queensland and would love any recommendations for places to visit!
